About Coach Andrew Peterson
My name is Andrew Peterson and I was born and raised in Reno, Nevada. Having grown up in a non-traditional hockey market while trying to navigate the complex world of hockey was extremely challenging.
Playing against kids who had unlimited year-around access to ice while also having the ability to play in a competitive setting within their home states/towns made it hard for myself and my teammates to compete at that time but we managed to carve out a niche for hockey in Reno that only historically produced football and basketball athletes.
With the newly built Reno Ice facility we have a tremendous chance to give back all that we have learned over the years and helping kids and adults further their hockey careers and potential will always be my main focus.
This is an exciting time for Nevada hockey especially within Northern Nevada as many people have become enamored with the sport which is awesome to see.
My hockey career took me from playing AAA in Vacaville, California as a teenager to playing junior hockey in British Columbia, Canada for two years. From there, I attended Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota playing NCAA hockey at the DIV III level. After graduating I continued my hockey journey overseas playing 5 years professionally in Sweden. As my career winded down, the timing couldn’t have been better with the opening of Reno Ice which is a brand-new state of the art facility in beautiful South Reno.
I look forward to helping players progress and guide them through the steps they will need to take to play at a higher level.
